Connection

We cannot live alone, even someone who believes they are alone, they see a bunch of other people in their life. I was curious to visualize the invisible connection between human and human. This video, I asked the participants to attach and pull glass in the dark. In the space, we were not able to see each other face, we see the light from punty rods to stick and pull out. there is no words or direction, two people are easy to pull, however multiple people are hard to guess what each other need. This video demonstrated the way of the connection built. 

人はひとりでは生きられない。
自分は孤独だと思っていても、誰もが人生の中で、無数の他者と交わりながら生きている。

この作品では、人と人とのあいだにある、目には見えない「つながり」を可視化することを試みた。暗闇の中で、参加者たちはガラスを接着し、引き合うという行為に取り組んだ。
互いの顔は見えず、頼れるのはガラスに灯る小さな光のみ。言葉も指示もない状況のなかで、2人なら容易に息が合っても、人数が増えるほどに相手の動きや意図を読み取ることが難しくなる。

「つながる」とはどういうことか。
この映像は、そのプロセスを浮かび上がらせる試みである。
